Grand Theft
Grand theft is a felony crime in the United States. It is defined as the theft of
objects exceeding a certain money value,
as set by statute or court ruling. One can easily distinguish it from petty theft where the value of the item
taken is
substantially lower in value. Nevertheless, this distinction is not
always deemed. In the United States, for example, the theft
of a vehicle is usually deemed Grand theft even if the vehicle is of
high value or of no value.
In the United States, the value
required to distinct Petty
theft to Grand theft can be as low as $100 depending on the jurisdiction, but is
usually $200 or
$1000.
Grand theft is the crime of taking someone else's property against
their will with the intent of fraud.
In order for the Theft

theft definition can include money,
labor, property that lawfully belongs to an additional person. When the value of the stolen property
remain under the specific
dollar amount, the crime is deemed Petty theft.
The law in all states federal and state, draws a legal distinction
between petty and grand theft. In the majority cases, petty
theft is a crime that is punishable by no additional than one year of
imprisonment and a maximum fine. Most states consider
grand theft a
felony crime that carries the possibility of a harsh penalty. The
specific punishment for the felony of grand
theft crime will often is based upon on that law or federal law.
The majority states classify grand theft crimes a severe criminal
act. The degree of grand theft is
often predicted by the
value amount of the property that was stolen. There exists the majority acts which can be deemed grand theft. Shoplifting
defined as taking property, goods, or services from shop
